Term 2 in 2nd/3rd Class
Term 2 was a very busy and enjoyable one for the students in 2nd/3rd Class, both inside and outside of the classroom.
We completed eight weeks of swimming lessons, where students developed important swimming and water safety skills. Alongside this, we worked through the PAWS programme, developing our water-on-land safety skills. The students proudly received certificates to acknowledge their hard work over the past number of weeks.
Some of our Second Class students also celebrated their First Confession in February. Congratulations to all involved for their wonderful preparation for this special Sacrament.
We were lucky to work closely with our 4th Class neighbours during the term. Together, we made St. Brigid’s crosses for St. Brigid's Day and pancakes for Pancake Tuesday. These activities linked with SPHE and our English procedural writing genre, as students worked together following instructions and recipes. A big thank you to Ms. Mulligan for always welcoming us into her classroom.
We also enjoyed dressing up for World Book Day. Swipe below to see some of the fantastic costumes on display!
Finally, after a busy and enjoyable Seachtain na Gaeilge and a lovely Grandparents’ Day celebration, where we sang Óró Sé do Bheatha ’Bhaile and recited the poem An Féileacán for our grandparents, we finished the term with an Easter egg hunt and some well-deserved treats to celebrate the hard work, kindness, and enthusiasm shown by each student in 2nd/3rd Class throughout the term.
